Lost beats: Dunhuang, National Geographic

This documentary features Brad M Seippel in the mesmerising city of Dunhuang, once a strategic hub along the Silk Road and gateway to the Western world. Drawings of musicians and musical instruments cover the walls of the Mogao Grottoes depicting the ancenstros of the modern musical instruments used today. Modern pipas for example are all held vertically but the pipas in the murals are held horizontally.
